Small Hive Beetles are one of the most destructive pests in modern beekeeping. Once they gain a foothold in the hive, they contaminate honey, slime comb, and weaken colonies.
The Beetle Resistant Frame (BRF) was designed specifically to help bees control these pests while providing the strength and durability commercial and hobbyist beekeepers demand. Built with an innovative structure and reinforced design, the BRF frame improves hive productivity while reducing places for beetles to hide.
The BRF frame incorporates bee-accessible cells along the top, side, and bottom bars, allowing worker bees to patrol areas where beetles typically hide. These cells make it harder for beetles to escape bee pressure and help prevent them from establishing themselves inside the hive.
In addition to pest control, these cells are naturally used by bees to store pollen and honey, increasing the overall productivity of the frame.
The BRF contains approximately 400 more cells than a standard frame, providing about 5% more usable comb surface area. More cells mean more space for brood, pollen, and honey storage—helping colonies maximize their output during strong nectar flows.
Designed to handle the realities of commercial beekeeping, the BRF is reinforced in key structural areas to withstand heavy honey loads and rough handling.
Whether you're moving honey supers across rough bush roads or transporting pallets between yards, the BRF is engineered to reduce the risk of broken lugs and frame failure.
Unlike wooden frames that can warp, rot, or suffer termite damage, the BRF is molded from high-quality plastic for long-term durability. With proper care, these frames can deliver 5–10 years of reliable performance, reducing replacement costs and ongoing maintenance.
BRF frames are available pre-coated with pure beeswax for faster acceptance by bees, or uncoated for beekeepers who prefer to apply their own wax.
