My observations of the bees working well with these frames spans 2+ years of use. The wax coating is good. I sometimes add more (via rubbing on filtered wax from decappings / burr comb). Besides the bees using these frames routinely in the medium boxes, I have also used them to provide candy board for extra Winter resources (just in case; candy is formed on one side of frame, flush with edge of frame (bee space) & secured with elastic bands - just in case of dislodgment). I use Apimaye hive equipment. These frames fit 100% & are robust for leveraging out of box when there’s lots of adhesion (propolis / comb).
Frames are great,had a couple with shipping damage, talked to representative at midwesthoneybeeexpo last year and she said she would send replacements but must have forgot.
These foundations with standard wax are amazing they actually seem like a heavier wax coating in my opinion and the bees absolutely love it. They seem to draw out the honeycomb faster with these foundations that those purchased through other companies. Will definitely buy more of these for next season.
These frames are wonderful. The bees draw them out beautifully. I would suggest getting the triple waxed. That way you don't have to add any extra wax.
I had to purchase more frames due to the number of swarms I was catching. I had heard good things about Acorn foundations so I figured I would try them and I wasn’t disappointed. The bees went to work drawing these out in no time at all. Note: I was feeding the bees 1to 1 sugar water to speed up the process. In addition to that I like the fact that they are one piece and are black which aids me in seeing eggs now that I am getting older and my eye sight has changed. My next foundation purchase will be Acorn for sure!
I got these triple waxed foundations to use for new hives. Whether it’s a swarm, a package or a split the bees draw these out super fast. And zero need to apply more wax on these like the other brands.
The one piece black plastic fountain double waxed. The Bees draw it out real good with any kind of a flow going on or 1 to 1 sugar water at the rite time.
