Lyson 6 Frame Nuc Kit

The Lyson polystyrene nuc box holds 6 deep frames, includes an entrance reducer, and features a propolis trap as an inner cover.

The Lyson 6 frame nuc is a made of sturdy high density polystyrene and holds six deep frames (not included). The frame rests are reinforced with plastic and both the bottom board and outer cover are ventilated. The outer cover has multiple closable vents to allow plenty of ventilation in any season. Included metal latches hold the cover in place.

There are three options for the inner cover. It is recommended that some barrier be installed between the frames and the outer cover to prevent comb building inside the cover cavity. A piece of canvas cloth works well and allows some airflow through the cloth. A propolis trap, cut down to size to fit this nuc, allows even more airflow as long as the bees do not propolize the entire surface. Lastly, many beekeepers simply use a spare piece of plastic sheeting or a grain bag to make their own inner cover. Make your selection in the drop-down box.

The nuc's entrance can be set to queen excluder mode, fully closed for transport (flip over), or wide open (remove sliding plastic piece). Assembly instructions are located here.
